Tryouts for the 12A Oregon Wolves will be Friday August 8th from 5:30 – 7:30 and Saturday August 9th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Tualatin High School varsity field (south parking lot). Our Tualatin Wolves 10U team finished as the runner up (2nd) in the Oregon ASA championships this past season. Our 12A team this coming fall and spring season will feature top players from not only Tualatin, but from the surrounding areas of Oregon and Washington as well. All positions are open. The goals of the Oregon Wolves for this coming season are to play fall ball and in approximately 12 tournaments in the spring / summer, contend for the 12A state championship, play in 12A nationals or regionals, and teach solid softball fundamentals that can be built upon as our players develop into impact players at the high school and collegiate level. Most importantly, they will have fun! While doing so, our players play fast, aggressive and will be among the best hitters in Oregon ASA 12A softball. Our year round indoor practice facility is available to our players at any time of the year as we provide keys to all of our parents at no additional cost. The facility is heated and perfect for pitching, catching, in-fielding, as well as hitting. Wolves assistant coach Roger Gray recently retired after ten (10) years as the hitting coach for the highly successful Tualatin High School varsity softball team and prior to that at the equally successful Tigard High School varsity softball program for five (5) years. During his high school baseball and softball coaching career, Roger has worked with and developed over 100 all conference (all-star) hitters, multiple Oregon All-State players and the 2006 Oregon OSAA High School Softball Player of the Year. Over the past five seasons alone, Roger has had success in helping nine (9) Tualatin High School players develop into collegiate level players, including six (6) at the Division I level. Wolves assistant coach Dan Roisom, recently retired as the head coach of the Tualatin High School Varsity softball team, will be a special consulting assistant for this team (part-time basis). Coach Roisom was the head coach at Tualatin High School for ten (10) years and the head coach at Tigard High School for ten (10) years prior to that. Coach Roisom has coached ASA softball (levels 10A through 18Gold) for over ten (10) years and has over 400 wins at the high school level during his twenty (20) year career. Although coach Roisom will not be “full-time”, his presence will be felt as he assists in the teaching of solid softball fundamentals and game strategies. Wolves head coach Bill Holmes is ready to continue building on this season’s 2nd place finish in the Oregon ASA 10U State Championships. Bill has spent the past two seasons assisting at Tualatin High School under Dan Roisom and Roger Gray, and last year was the Tualatin High School JV Head Coach where his team finished with a 16-4 record. For more information on an outstanding and highly competitive program, or to register for tryouts, please contact Bill Holmes at wnholmes@pdxcpas.com. Our website, www.oregonwolves.com also has additional information including pictures from last year (the pictures tell it all). We look forward to our best Wolves season ever and the coaches look forward to meeting you at tryouts! | |
